‘Houston we’ve got a problem’

The whole A&D industry came together to talk about climate change from the same platform.

1.   Everyone agrees about the data – climate change is happening, it’s urgent and it’s man-made.

2.    Climate change is a national security issue.

3.    The A&D industry has got what it takes to lead defence against climate change.

4.    Defence against climate change could be a new core market for the sector.

5.    The sector’s system of systems and engineering expertise is needed to design clean energy infrastructure and improve climate forecasting.

6.    Governments must agree clear policy to start reducing emissions immediately and provide incentives to encourage investment.

7.    The sector needs to work in cooperation and build new partnerships – with government, climate change scientists and adjacent sectors - to develop solutions.

8.    The sector must make its case - explaining how it can help and committing resources - or it will miss the opportunity.

9.    The scale and technical problems of climate change can serve as a catalyst for renewed innovation and recruitment in the sector.
